Express tours is Maui's premiere horseback tour outfitter. This family business dates back to 1983 and explores the majestic scenery from Haleakala Ranch to the other-worldly terrain of Haleakala Crater. Narrated and guided by expert horsemen, there is no better way to experience Haleakala.
Ka Moa O Pele - Junction Ride (Crater Ride)
(5 to 5.5 hr tour)
Proud to offer one of the only horse rides that goes into a dormant volcano crater. Rides are limited to small groups of nine and are led by experienced wranglers who narrate about plant life, geology and legends of the crater. You will explore Haleakala or "House of the Sun" and it's magnificent high-altitude desert landscape along Sliding Sands Trail. Prior riding experience is recommended but not required. Due to the high elevation of this tour (10,000 ft.) it is not recommended for persons with health concerns such as heart, lung or other problems including elevation sickness. Plan for about 4 hours "in the saddle."
Lunch is included on this tour. A croissant sandwich choice of turkey, tuna, ham, or vegetarian. Also a fresh fruit cup, Maui chips and Maui cookies.

Haleakala Ranch Rides
Paniolo Ride - 2 hrs
Haleakala Ranch is the largest working cattle ranch on Maui with panoramic views of the beautiful valley isle while riding through lush pastures and tall, fragrant eucalyptus trees. The Paniolo ride is a 2 hour ride in a peaceful environment. Enjoy spectacular ocean views and a refreshment.

Mauka Ride - 1.5 hrs
Also located on Haleakala Ranch and like the Paniolo ride, this tour also includes a refreshment and a view of ancient Chinese walls.

From the WEST SIDE/LAHAINA: Plan on a 1.5 hr drive.
Head back to the main airport on hwy 30; turn right on hwy 380; turn right on 36 by K-Mart,
short distance – turn right on hwy 37 (crater hwy and follow signs to the national park),
go up 7 miles and depending on the day of the week, you will automatically be led into 377 due to morning traffic cones or you will turn left on 377.
Continue 5.5 miles on hwy 377 until hwy 378 and turn left.
Go 2.5 miles up 378, on the left hand side there is a red building that says Pony Express and that is the Ranch Office.
From SOUTH MAUI/KIHEI side: Plan on a 1.5 hr drive.
Head back to the main airport on hwy 311, turn right on 380 by the church, turn right on 36 by K-Mart, turn right on 37,
go up 7 miles and you will be led into 377 or you turn left on 377.
Drive 5.5 miles on 377 to 378 turn left; go 2.5 miles up 378,
On the left is the red building that says Pony Express.
After check in and paperwork there you continue up to the visitor center parking lot just past mile marker 20 where we will meet you for the tour.
